Featured Airline
Jan 2012
We wish we could say we have a Featured Airline. However, due to the fact that the airlines have been "anti consumer and travel agent friendly", we have no choice but to treat them with disdain, in the same manner in which they have treated us, the consumer and the travel agency community. The airlines have been very effective in convincing us, the consumer, that we can find better deals on the internet. By going to Orbitz and their websites we can alll save "big time", is what they have convinced us of. But in fact it simply is not true. We in the travel industry are making more money than ever only because we know that you can get better prices by coming to us, the travel agent. Let me give you an example of a typical situation which happened this week. I had a group of 19 people that wanted to go from various locations in Texas to Seattle from Oct 7-10. Because there was no Saturday night stay the fares varied from $400 to $1600. However, due to our expertise, we were able to find the fare for around $$300 on average. So instead of our typical 10% commission we now charge the $400 which is what the "market will bear" and instead of a 10% commission we have now made a 25% commission. Before we would have only charged $330 and now the consumer has paid $70 more than they should have. Sorry, but you have just been taken advantage of the Airline Industry. So we apologize if we have no "Featured Airline". They are out to give you the shaft, and they are succeeding.
