View Mars Hill where Paul debated with the intellectual community of his day. Walk among the ruins of the Agora, ancient market place and center of Athenian public life, where Paul preached to the skeptical Athenians. You will view the Olympic Stadium, where the ancient Olympics began and where the games returned in 2004. Travel to Corinth (Acts 18: 1-18), a city that inspired many of St. Paul’s most familiar letters. You will visit the Archaeological Museum, the Market Place and Temples. Walk among the ruins and stand on the Bema where Paul stood. Read Paul’s letter to the Corinthians and visualize his address to the Gentiles as he began the task of building Corinth’s church. Imagine where Aquila and Priscilla lived and where they had their tent making business. This evening you will board your lovely cruise ship, the Orient Queen.

Day at Sea
Today will be a full day at sea. Biblical lectures and plenty of other on board activities will set the tone for the day. There are two outdoor pools and health club, beauty salon and plenty of deck space where you can sit and watch the beautiful Mediterranean Sea glide beneath you.

Day 5 ~ Nov 16
Malta
Dock this morning on the island of Malta (Melita) where, following a shipwreck, Paul lived for three months before departing for Rome. You’ll explore Valletta, a beautiful city that reflects Malta’s rich heritage. From the Grand Harbor Quay, drive to the ramparts where you begin a walking tour viewing some of the palatial inns and residences of the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem.

Day 6 ~ Nov 17
Sicily
Dock this morning on the island of Sicily where Paul spent three days (Acts 28:12). You’ll enjoy a spectacular view of Mt. Etna as you explore the town of Syracuse, once an important Greek colony known as the “most beautiful of all cities.” In Syracuse, you can see Greek and Roman buildings everywhere in the city.

Day 7 ~ Nov 18
Christian Rome
This morning you will travel to Rome. Paul wrote to the Christians of Rome and he eventually went there where his ministry continued, although he was technically a prisoner. You will experience the glory of Christian Rome when you visit the Vatican. You’ll tour the Vatican Museum, home to many of the world’s masterpieces. Enter the Sistine Chapel and view Michelangelo’s frescoes, which have been restored to their full, colorful glory. Tour St. Peter’s Basilica where Michelangelo’s “Pieta” -- the only work signed by the master -- will be just one of many highlights. Visit St. Paul Outside the Walls, built over the site of St. Paul’s tomb. Travel along the famous Appian Way. Walk through the Catacombs of San Callisto. Visit the Victor Emanuel Monument, built in honor of Italy’s first king. Walk through the Piazza del Campidoglio, designed by Michelangelo.

Day 8 ~ Nov 19
Ancient Rome
You’ll visit the Mamertine Prison, one of the most ancient structures in Rome. It is believed that both Peter and Paul were imprisoned here. See the Roman Forum, an ancient meeting place, market place, religious and political center. View the Arch of Titus that commemorates Titus’ conquest of Judea. Explore the Coliseum, famous as a place of spectacle and death. Gladiators died here as thousands looked on. See the Circus Maximus, built during the reign of Nero. This huge stadium was able to seat 250,000 spectators for chariot races and other spectacles. You will also enjoy Rome’s famous Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps.

Day 9 ~ Nov 20
Naples and Pompeii
In the early morning, your ship will dock in Naples, a dazzling city perched on a beautiful rock coast. Journey inland to ancient Pompeii where you will visit the spectacular ruins that were covered by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D. The city remained buried and undiscovered for almost 1500 years until excavation began in 1748. These excavations continue today, providing insight into life during the Roman Empire. NOTE: Those taking the Amalfi Coast and Rome extension will disembark in Naples. Everyone else will set sail during the night.
